Remember last week when I mentioned to expect more from Kele Okereke on PFW in the near future? Well here it is. This is actually an acoustic version of his song “New Rules,” which serves as a nice break from the actual album (which many have criticized for being too electronic). This was part of Baeble Music’s “Guest Apartment” series, the rest of which can be seen here.
So, if you watch America’s Got Talent then no doubt you’ve witnessed this guy from a few seasons back. He’s got a new album coming out mid-September but if you want to hear a snippet and learn more before then, check back here for a review real soon. Awesome singing, no?
It’d be no surprise that if you’re playing very retro sounding stuff (and I’m talking retro as in 5-1200 years retro) that you might be in a league of your own. You know, the sort of group that doesn’t have to worry about copying their peers and all the fuss that comes along with bands striving to be unique. This particular trio, The Sea Kings, is the epitome of original - at least to my very unfamiliar ears - and is actually quite charming despite the eccentric music.
trapeze swinger - iron & wine
such a beautiful, beautiful song.
the trapeze act was wonderful but never meant to last….
I’ve decided to expand my “Cover Song Wednesday” feature by including videos (as opposed to only posting audio covers). This is a cover of a wonderful song that I’m sure many of you are already familiar with. It’s done by a young British fellow who goes by the YouTube moniker eddplant, accompanied by a female friend. Not the cleanest cover ever, but I love the dude’s voice. More importantly, I love hearing this track as a guitar/pop song (as opposed to the strictly vocoder/vocals original version).
Just heard this artist for the first time via fellow “tumblr” 1000x/minute earlier today. Still know virtually nothing about him, but love this tune (and the accompanying video).
Naturally, my mentioning of Jose Gonzalez yesterday left me scouring the internet for more Jose. Love the unison singing - always delicate and super melodic. Jose and his reappearing percussive trio Live at Nyhetsmorgon in 2007.
