Remember last week when I mentioned to expect more from Kele Okereke on PFW in the near future? Well here it is. This is actually an acoustic version of his song “New Rules,” which serves as a nice break from the actual album (which many have criticized for being too electronic). This was part of Baeble Music’s “Guest Apartment” series, the rest of which can be seen here.
It’s no secret I’ve been on a Spirit Animal kick. After getting to know Steve a bit when we talked earlier this month, I developed a deeper appreciation for a record I really liked to begin with. I was curious to see how they pulled it off live and if this teasing little video is any indication, than this stuff makes for a killer show. I love the “Ants” portion toward the middle.
I sat down (and by that I mean, spoke over the phone) with Steve Cooper of Spirit Animal and learned a little bit about where he came from and what inspired one of my favorite albums of the year, “The Cost of Living.” He told me to expect the album in late September, so if you like what you hear on the myspace, be sure to check back here for a review. In the meantime, enjoy the very intelligent words of Mr. Steve Cooper…
So, if you watch America’s Got Talent then no doubt you’ve witnessed this guy from a few seasons back. He’s got a new album coming out mid-September but if you want to hear a snippet and learn more before then, check back here for a review real soon. Awesome singing, no?
Consider yourself a music elitist and too embarrassed to admit that you enjoy pop music? Then start listening to Dinosaur Feathers, and get the best of both worlds.
