The Weepies return with what sounds like round 2 of Hideaway. They’ve brought back that familiar pop-country sound they introduced on the aforementioned album with seasoned command. Lots of folks cry and whine about progression and artistic transformation but another dozen Weepies gems later and here I am, happy as ever for having bought this record. The Weepies’ Be My Thrill is another success story for the husband/wife duo.

I discovered Ghostwaves earlier this week via a free download of their debut EP (STAYWAVY) on fellow tumblr member (theunfound)’s tumblelog. Needless to say, I instantly fell in love.

7-piece folk-rock outfit Where’s Lawrence? (who were featured back in February) have two stellar performances on the horizon. They’ll be playing the St. Louis Music Festival on September 16th in St. Louis, as well as the Midpoint Music Festival in Cincinnati on September 24th. An album doesn’t need to be groundbreaking to be a solid effort. Kangataran brings commonly beloved instrumentation to a familiar genre, and does so with enough grace and quiet expertise that the final product is wholly charming.
